Carnival Cruise Lines

Cruises from Australia

Carnival Cruise Lines, with a history of 40 years and a fleet of 24 ships is all about having fun on board. On their site, they ask “Ready to get way more vacation for your vacation?” And they make sure that this happens by offering a great range of activities, especially for those passengers who do not want to leave their local pub, favorite restaurant or night-club while on vacation. If you are into partying, then Carnival should be your cruising company of choice.

As crazy as it might sound, Carnival cruise ships do have a proper nightlife. And as you should never drink on an empty stomach, why not start your night at the Blue Iguana Cantine? After a taco or two, you can head to a live music show, visit the piano bar, have a shot of rum at the Redfrog Rum Bar, a few more shots at the Havana or the Alchemy bars and then end up at the Night Club. DJ Iree might be on the decks! If you want something more relaxed, you can go the Ocean Plaza. There you can grab some food, enjoy live music and, as the night progresses, hit the dance floor. Of course, there is always the option to make fun of your friends (or prove your talent) at a Karaoke night!

Cruises AustraliaIf you are not into dancing and drinking, don’t worry! Carnival ships can keep you entertained with their great range of dining options. You can go for a casual diner at the Pizzeria and it is open 24 hours a day! Cucina del Capitano is the best place to get your favorite Italian dish and if you are into sushi, then Bonsai Sushi will satisfy your cravings. If you had enough Japanese food, but would still like to try something exotic, why not visit Mongolian Wok? If you are more into traditional western cuisine, then you will enjoy the Steakhouse. Your favorite Guy’s Burger Joint is here to keep you well fed as well. If you want to be a bit fancier, Signature Dining offers you the chance to enjoy an extensive wine list along with the finest seafood. And if you are really curious about how your meals are prepared, why not try the Chef’s Table experience that gives you a backstage pass to the Master Chef’s kitchen. This is a complete, VIP experience, starting with cocktails and ending with a great meal. If you are not too hungry though, the Taste Bar allows you to sample bite-sized portions of different dishes. And you don’t have to worry about the kids, as a kids’ menu is available!

When it comes to entertainment there is something for every age and personality. If you are into sports and fitness, you can enjoy the spa facilities as well as the jogging track. Sportsquare will also offer you fitness games in the pool. If you prefer shows, then Carnival’s Seaside Theater, Stage Shows, the Thrill Theater and the Comedy Club are places that you will enjoy. Dive-in movies are a more relaxed option, where you can enjoy a movie by the pool, wearing your swimsuit. And if you are into arts, do not miss the auctions and exhibitions at the art gallery! If you feel lucky, you can also head to the Casino and black jack, poker or try the roulette. Camp Carnival, Carnival Waterworks and the Video Arcade will keep your kids happy. And if they are overexcited and can’t fall asleep, why not let them enjoy this holiday by staying up late and playing at the Camp Carnival Night Owls, their very own space that is open until 3am.

Carnival Cruises from AustraliaCarnival Cruises offer a VIFP service. As they point out, at Carnival you are considered a Very Important Fun Person. This “fun” element becomes bigger and bigger, as you become a red, gold, platinum and eventually diamond member, with more and more sailings. The advantages that you get include anything from free washing and folding of your clothes, to free meals in specialty restaurants, priority check-in and invitations from the captain. Each cruise day equals one VIFP point and the more points you get the higher you rank and the more freebies you get.

Apart from the VIFP membership, you have to option to get a Carnival Master Card, with which you can make all your purchases on board, without having to carry money around you. It does not have an annual fee. You load your card with “Fun Points” and 2 fun points equal 1 dollar on board, while 1 dollar equals 1 fun point on shore, in regular shops.

As Carnival takes fun very seriously, the cruise directors – who make sure passengers are comfortable and are having a good time – are sort of the spine of the company. On the company’s official website you can read the blog of their senior cruise director, John Heald’s, that will give you a good taste of life on board. An insiders view with a great sense of humor, that makes you want to meet all of their crew. Well played, Carnival!

If you are fascinated with the Carnival experience, you will be pleased to know that there are several cruises from Australia. The cruises for the Pacific Islands will depart from Sydney and some of the ports included in the itinerary are Port Villa, Isle of Pines, Noumea, Suva, Wala, Mystery Island and many more.
